Travel and Accommodation

The venue for the Meeting of the Steering Committee on Innovation in Teaching and Learning will be Universidade de Aveiro, Campus Universitário de Santiago 3810-193 Aveiro, Portugal

Suggested accommodation. Participants are asked to make their own bookings, please.

Besides the hotels listed here, Aveiro has a variety of Hostels and Guesthouses with prices starting from around €25 per night, depending on how early you book. There is also a Youth Hostel located close to the Campus – search for “Pousada de Juventude”.

Travel – flying to Portugal
The closest airport is Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport in Porto, located some 70kms to the north of Aveiro. Portela International Airport in Lisbon is located 250kms to the south of Aveiro.

Details of local transport in Portugal (trains and busses) will be provided to all registered participants before the event.


There is no registration fee for this event.

Costs of travel, accommodation and subsistence are borne by the participants themselves (personally or by using any funding they have available, for example under mobility schemes). The ECIU will provide a small subsidy by refunding 2 students (chosen by their home University) with air travel costs (around 250 euros per student).
On 16 September, participants are invited to have lunch on Campus during the mega picnic and to a buffet dinner in the evening and on September 17 a buffet lunch will be served also).
